Phillies Home Opener

April 4, 2017

On Friday, 4/7, your Philadelphia Phillies return to South Philly for their first home game of the 2017 season! They’ll be taking on the Washington Nationals at 3:05pm, and thousands of baseball fans will make their way to Citizen’s Bank Park to cheer on the home team.

There are lots of festivities planned for the big day, like the Phillies Opening Day Block Party, presented by Budweiser, on Citizens Bank Way from 12p to 3p. This free pre-game event features entertainment, food, a huge Ferris wheel, face painters and more!

As usual, the best way from home to home field (and back again) is the SEPTA Broad Street Line. Hop it south to AT&T Station (last stop). To avoid the line, don't forget your SEPTA Key!

SEPTA's Broad Street Line drops you steps from Citizens Bank Park. Trains run every 8 to 10 minutes. It takes about 11 minutes to travel from City Hall to AT&T Station on a local train. Four (4) Express Trains will leave Fern Rock at 1:38p, 1:48p, 1:58p & 2:08p. Immediately following the end of the game, fans can find northbound trains waiting to provide local and express service back towards Center City and Fern Rock Transportation Center.

One way fare on the Broad Street Line is $2.25 cash. You must have exact change if paying the cashier. The cashier cannot make change. Quick Trips are available from Fare Kiosks located in every station on the Broad Street Line. The kiosks accept credit/debit cards and cash [no exact change needed!]. Note, a Quick Trip is a one-way ticket, good for 24 hours. It can only be used at the station from which it is purchased. You can purchase your return Quick Trip from a Fare Kiosk at AT&T Station.

Your best bet, is a SEPTA Key Card. Like a Quick Trip, it is also available from the Fare Kiosks but unlike a Quick Trip, it is reloadable and reusable. The SEPTA Key Travel Wallet allows you to pay as you go and you'll receive a discount for each ride ($1.80 versus the $2.25 cash fare). It's just like using a token without all that heavy metal in your pocket or purse, and it's certainly much better than paying with cash. You must load a minimum of $10 [which will get you 5 rides]. Register your SEPTA Key at https://www.septakey.org/ in case you lose it - and while you're there, set up auto reload so your SEPTA Key is ready to go all season long! Please note, funds in your Travel Wallet can only be used to pay for one (1) person. It cannot be tapped multiple times to pay for anyone traveling with you.

All Regional Rail Lines, the Market-Frankford Line, PATCO and many trolley and bus routes provide convenient connections with the Broad Street Line. You can also travel to Citizens Bank Park via SEPTA Bus Routes 4 and 17.

When you arrive at AT&T Station on Friday, be on the lookout for the SEPTA Team. If you show us your SEPTA Key we'll give you one of our BRAND NEW GO SEPTA GO PHILS T-SHIRTS!

You can even use your SEPTA Pass - including your SEPTA Key - for more than just a ride to the game. With Pass Perks, you can score discounts just by having a SEPTA Key, TransPass, TrailPass, or One Day Independence Pass. To help you save this season, the Phillies are offering Buy One Get One FREE tickets to SEPTA Pass Holders. At McFadden’s Ballpark Restaurant & Saloon, located inside Citizens Bank Park, get 15% off your total bill when you flash your SEPTA Pass.

Looking for some Phillies gear? For official MLB apparel, head to the Phillies Majestic Clubhouse Store and get 10% off your purchase with your SEPTA Pass. You can also use your SEPTA Pass to save at Shibe Sports and Philly Phaithful, who specialize in vintage and unique sports t-shirts.

Whether it's getting you to the game or helping you save while you're there, there's no better game day companion than your SEPTA Key. Go SEPTA, Go Phillies!!!
