This week we are going to discuss SEPTA’s Route 104. The 104 is a Suburban Bus Route that travels from 69th Street Transportation Center out to Newtown Square and continues on to West Chester.

SEPTA’s Route 104 was once a Red Arrow Route known as "Route W.” The W began operation as a trolley on August 15, 1895. Trolley’s remained on this Route until June 5, 1954, when buses took over.  It wasn’t until June 1975 that the Route W became known as the Route 104.

In 2002, service on the 104 was extended to West Chester University, eliminating the 10-15 minute walk to the nearest bus stop. This was good news not only for College Students, but also West Chester residents who lived nearby.

So – how does the Route 104 stack up to other SEPTA Routes? On a typical weekday, the Route 104 carries 3,396 passengers and makes 111 trips.  This makes it SEPTA’s 7th busiest Suburban Transit Route.

Whether you’re headed to West Chester University, or need an easy to way to connect to other modes of Transportation, SEPTA’s Route 104 has you covered.
