March 6, 2017

This week, we’re taking a look at SEPTA’s Route 22. The Route 22 is a City Division Bus that operates between Warminster and Olney Transportation Center. At Olney Transportation Center, the Route 22 connects with the Broad Street Line and Bus Routes 6, 8, 16, 18, 26, 55, 80, and L. Along its route, the 22 connects with Warminster Regional Rail Line at Warminster, Hatboro, Willow Grove, Roslyn, and Glenside Stations. Route 22 riders can also connect with the Richboro-Warminster RushBus at Warminster Station. The RushBus is operated by TMA Bucks and specialize in getting employees to and from work.

Before buses replaced streetcars in 1958, the Route 22 was a trolley route known as the Route 6. The Route 6 Bus ran until January 12, 1986, when it was redesignated as the Route 22. On a typical weekday, the Route 22 travels about 4,000 miles and carries 5,093 passengers. It's route is 17.1 miles long, making 117 trips from 4:30a to 1:30a Monday thru Friday. The Route 22 also runs from 4:30a to 1:30a on weekends, making 69 trips on Saturdays and 48 trips on Sundays.
