This is week, we're exploring the Route 5, which travels from Front & Market in Old City to Frankford Transportation Center, aka FTC. The Route 5 travels 6.8 miles from start to finish. On a typical weekday, the Route 5 carries 3,434 passengers and travels 911 miles. On weekdays, the Route 5 makes 134 total trips, with AM peak travel every 11 minutes. On weekends, the 5 makes 66 trips per day at a travel frequency of 30 minutes.
The Route 5 travels north on 3rd Street to Girard Avenue, and then continues down Girard to Frankford Avenue, where it heads to FTC. If you know anything about this section of the city, Northern Liberties, then you know filled with great restaurants and bars. That’s even more reason to hop the Route 5 for a night out on the town. It travels past many bars and restaurants, including: Frankford Hall, Johnny Brenda’s, Cantina Dos Segundos, and North Bowl just to name a few.
