Route of the Week - 6

This week, we'll be exploring SEPTA's Route 6 Bus. The Route 6 serves the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia between Cheltenham & Ogontz Bus Loop and Olney Transportation Center. The Route 6 Bus was once a popular trolley line to Willow Grove Amusement Park (now Willow Grove Park Mall). This trolley line ran until January 11, 1986 when buses replaced streetcars.
The Route 6 Trolley
The Route 6 connects with nine different bus routes and the Broad Street Line at Olney Transportation Center. The Route 6 also connects with four bus routes at Cheltenham Square Mall, so it's a great bus to hop on for shoppers or mall employees. On a typical weekday, the Route 6 carries 6,973 passengers and travels 1,358 miles. As a Nite Owl Bus, the Route 6 runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
