Spread the Word About Safety

March 4, 2022

March 13 through 19, 2022 is Patient Safety Awareness Week. This week is an annual recognition event intended to encourage everyone to learn more about healthcare safety. It is designed to provide a platform to increase awareness about patient safety among health professionals and the public.

Customer safety is something that we can relate to here at SEPTA - and some of the important tips to know and share - are universal - whether you're in a healthcare setting, on a bus, or in a train station:

  • When with children, please remain extra vigilant.

  • Keep personal belongings with you at all times. Before exiting, take a moment to make certain you have all your possessions, including any briefcases, purses, backpacks, packages or suitcases.

  • Be aware of your surroundings. Be alert for suspicious people or objects. Most, of course are harmless, but if you are genuinely concerned calmly inform a police officer, security guard, or uniformed SEPTA employee. Never confront a suspicious person or touch a suspicious object.

  • If there is an emergency, call 911 immediately. Or look for emergency call boxes, alarms, or phones that will connect you to a person.
