Line of the Week: 10

This week, we're checking out one of SEPTA’s Subway-Surface Trolleys, the 10! The 10 was established as a Subway-Surface Trolley in 1906 by the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company.

Like many other SEPTA Trolleys, the 10 starts its journey at 13th and Market. From there, it weaves through the winding trolley tunnels beneath Center City. Eventually the 10 makes its way above ground at the 36th Street Portal. The 10 is the only Subway-Surface Trolley to use the 36th Street portal. Trolleys 11, 13, 34 and 36 all exit from the 40th Street Portal.

The 10 is constantly moving, running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! It ends its journey at the Malvern Loop in Overbook, where it shares an off-street loop with the Route 46.

This holiday season, you can take the 10 to the Wintergarden at Dilworth Park! This holiday-inspired garden is located on the Albert M. Greenfield Lawn. You can delight in discovering picture-perfect moments amid holiday topiaries, twinkling lights, and seasonal plants. The beautiful garden and craft market are great spots for holiday card photos!

From there, you can head over to Love Park to stroll thru Christmas Village. Don't miss over 60 vendors selling authentic European food, ornaments and arts & crafts from all over the world!

If you're planning on riding - there are a few things you don't want to forget.

• You'll want to remember your SEPTA Key! This is your "key" to not just the 10, but to all of SEPTA! If you're using your SEPTA Key, fare will be $2, your first transfer will be free and your second transfer will only be $1. Not only that, but children under the age of 12 ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying adult!  And now, you can buy a Three Day Convenience Pass which is ideal for individuals who travel on SEPTA less than 5 days a week and visitors and tourists enjoying a multiple day stay in Philadelphia. The cost is $18 and it's good for 24 trips over 72 consecutive hours. Time starts with your first tap. It is meant for one rider. You can read up about fares here.
