Location: Bryn Mawr πŸ“

April 28, 2022

Welcome back SEPTA Rider! It’s Leslie here with a new location. This week, we ventured off to Bryn Mawr! With the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market now being officially open on Saturdays, I found it imperative to tell all our riders how easy it is to get there on SEPTA.

Along with the popular Farmers Market, the town of Bryn Mawr, located in Lower Merion township, is also widely known as the home of Bryn Mawr College and famous R&B singer, Teddy Pendergrass. There is a quaint downtown area filled with many local shops, restaurants, and tons of history.

My journey began at Jefferson Station. Before leaving the office, I checked my SEPTA App to confirm train arrival times, then I was on my way. At this point of my SEPTA career, I am beginning to feel like a Regional Rail Pro! I seamlessly checked the Arrival Board, tapped on, then went to the appropriate platform to wait. I moved so swiftly, that I had about 10 minutes to spare while waiting for the Paoli/Thorndale Line to arrive.

The ride was a little less than 30 minutes long. I got off at Bryn Mawr Station, tapped off, then made my way to the street. Because I made my trip on a Wednesday, and the farmers market is only open on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm, I was unable to shop around and check out the market. Lucky for our SEPTA riders, the farmers market will not be difficult to find as it is located right at Bryn Mawr Train Station. How convenient?!

After exploring the area further and getting a bite to eat at up-Ryes Bagel & Deli, (try the blueberry bagel lightly toasted with butter, 10/10, highly recommend), I made my way back to the train station.

I snapped a few pictures while waiting for the train back to Center City and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather.

If you use Travel Wallet on your SEPTA Key card, the cost of a one-way trip from Center City to Bryn Mawr on Regional Rail is $5.75 on weekdays and $5.25 on weekends.

So, if you’re a fresh produce lover, now is the perfect time to the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market.  Even fresh produce aside, Bryn Mawr will always be an ideal travel destination that can fit anyone’s preferences and interests.
