Location: Summerfest ๐Ÿ“

May 11, 2022

Hey there SEPTA Family! It’s Leslie here with a classic location. It’s not new but it’s worth a revisit. This time we’re headed out to Penn’s Landing for SummerFest!

Last time we headed to the waterfront for Winterfest but when the snow thaws the Blue Cross RiverRink is transformed into Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, a warm-weather edition of a roller rink. Summerfest features a roller rink, a boathouse-styled lodge, a play area for kids, carnival-style fun, food and drink options, and events throughout 2022 the season.

Admission to Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest is free and open to the public. Roller skating, mini-golf, games, rides, and concessions are pay-as-you-go.

The last time we made this trip, I took the 17 bus this time I decided to ride the 33. I made my way to the Bus Shelter on 13th and Market and waited seconds before the bus arrived. I tapped on, took my seat, and went for a short ride to Penn’s Landing. As I made my way to the waterfront, I spotted a few of our very own Perks Partners such as The Franklin Fountain, The Franklin Ice Cream Bar, and Sonny’s Famous Steaks during my walk.

When I finally made my way to the waterfront, I snapped a few photos of the transformed RiverRink. What was once a winter wonderland is now a summer oasis. I could see dogs playing in a nearby dog park and boats coasting along the Delaware River. It was not hard to tell this location will be a “hot” one for the summer.

When I was finished taking my photos, I found another 33 Bus waiting to start its route back towards Center City. I entered the bus and chatted with the Bus Operator until it was time to pull off.

The cost to ride any SEPTA bus, no matter the starting point, is $2.00 when utilizing your Travel Wallet on your SEPTA Key card and $2.50 when using cash (must be exact change).

So as summer is right around the corner, now is the perfect time to plan your trip to Summerfest for some fun in the sun and the best way to get there is and always will be SEPTA!
