Notice of Public Hearings

April 8, 2019

Starting Monday, April 15, 2019, SEPTA will hold a series of public hearings throughout the region on the Authority’s proposed Fiscal Year 2020 Operating Budget and Fiscal Years 2021-2025 Financial Plan.

The proposed Operating Budget is $1.49 billion, and maintains current SEPTA service levels, with no increase in fares for riders. Fiscal Year 2020 is the 12-month period that begins July 1, 2019 and ends June 30, 2020. The operating budget provides funding for the everyday costs of running the transit system, such as labor, fuel and power. The full budget proposal is available online at http://septa.org/strategic-plan/2020-03-operating-budget-proposal.pdf.

Hearings will be held in each of the five counties in the SEPTA service region from Monday, April 15 through Tuesday, April 23. Customers, residents, stakeholders and other members of the public are encouraged to attend, ask questions and submit comments. An independent Hearing Examiner will attend all sessions, and make recommendations before the proposal goes to the SEPTA Board for a vote.

Where/When:

Anyone wishing to file written comments may forward them to the Director of Operating Budgets, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, 1234 Market Street, 9th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19107 by April 29, 2019 so that they may be forwarded to the Hearing Examiner. Comments can also be sent electronically via the comment form found here.

Anyone desiring to present extensive comments and testimony are encouraged to do so in writing as the time for individual testimony may be limited in order to accommodate all who wish to speak.

Members of the public may obtain a copy of the proposed Operating Budget and Financial Plan at SEPTA's website www.septa.org or by requesting, in writing, a copy from the Director of Operating Budgets at the address listed above.

Come and be heard!
