Route of the Week - Route 33

December 16, 2019

Today, we’ll be exploring Route 33. This route stretches from 23rd and Venango to Penn’s Landing, and makes that trip a total of 246 times a day, from Monday thru Friday. It serves quite a few passengers every day – 12,770! This is partially because it’s one of our routes that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The history of this route goes quite far back. The origins of this route traces back to when a similar route was serviced by streetcars. In 1955, though, it became a bus route. It wasn’t until 1992 that its path was extended to Penn’s Landing.

The Route 33 rolls past so many of our Perks Partners! Whether you want to grab food at Reading Terminal Market, or want to head to the Franklin Institute, the Route 33 is there for you.

One of our favorite parts of the season is Delaware River Waterfront Riverrink. It’s a must for every Philadelphian, and Route 33 will get you right there. And not only that, but the rink is another one of our Perk Partners! You can get $2 off skating admission when you flash your SEPTA Key!

So, whether you’re headed to Penn's Landing, exploring all that Center City has to offer, or looking for a convenient connection to North Philadelphia, let the Route 33 take you there!
