Get to Know Your Customers Contest Results Are In!

October 25, 2022

In honor of Get to Know Your Customers Day, SEPTA held a contest giving riders the chance to WIN TWO TICKETS to the Philadelphia Flyers Game scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Wells Fargo Center.

Keeping in the spirit of spooky season, we asked contestants to tell us what their favorite scary movie is. Overall, we received over 300 entries and now, the results are in!!

The gals and ghouls have spoken and here are the top ten favorite scary movies according to our entries:

But what’s a contest without a winner? Even though Halloween came in as the top rated scary movie, Maude M, our lucky randomly selected contest winner, shares that her favorite scary movie is Insidious. The 2010 horror film is about a family that is looking to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called The Further. The film has won 8 awards and is ranked 9th favorite scary movie in our Get to Know Your Customers contest.

There were a lot of movies submitted but some honorable mentions include:

The Ring –  (6 Entries) This movie shows the journey of a journalist that must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it.

It – (5 Entries) This film highlights seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, who are about to face their worst nightmare -- an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town's children.

Silence of The Lambs - (5 Entries) Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI's training academy is told to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism.

Sixth Sense – (7 Entries) Based in the city of Philadelphia, Young Cole Sear is haunted by a dark secret: he is visited by ghosts. Cole is frightened by visitations from those with unresolved problems who appear from the shadows. He is too afraid to tell anyone about his anguish, except child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe.

Halloweentown – (3 Entries) This classic Disney movie is about Marnie and her kids when they get a big shock and follow grandma home to Halloweentown - and find out they come from a family of witches. The town is the only place where supernatural beings can lead a `normal' life, but trouble is looming, and on her 13th birthday Marnie not only finds she is a witch, but that she and her family are involved in a fight against the evil that is threatening to take over the world.

Everyone’s definition of the word scary may be different. We received some unconventional entries for favorite scary movies and learned that any movie can give spooky vibes to some viewers.  Contestant Peter A says that the film Bambi gives him chills and says, “I can't watch after the cruel opening when Bambi loses their mother!” Other quirky entries include Aquaman entered by Jason C and Matilda entered by Dawn R.

The best submission came from Jay S: "Cars! A world where there is no public transit?! Terrifying." Couldn't agree more!

Thank you to all who participated! Be sure to check out our contest page frequently for more opportunities to win BIG! Happy haunting everyone and remember, SEPTA is the SPOOKY way to go to all your Halloween happenings this season!
