Independence Mall

Also known as "America’s Most Historic Square Mile," Independence Mall is the three-block section of Independence National Historical Park that lies directly north of Independence Hall and south of the National Constitution Center. It is bounded by Chestnut, Race, 5th and 6th Streets. 

Independence Mall is home to free speech, special events, and public programming. 

How to get there

Short walk from Jefferson Station or ride the Market-Frankford Line to 5th Street/Independence Hall Station. Bus Routes 5, 9, 17, 21, 33, 38, 42, 44, 47, 48, 57, and 61 also get you there or close.

A Hanukkah Party & Concert

Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History

As part of the Weitzman’s Winter @ the Weitzman programming, the joyous Hanukkah Party & Concert on Saturday, 12/9 celebrates a musical Festival of Lights featuring Brooklyn-based Klezmer sensation The Honorable Mentshn with clarinetist Michael Winograd and Berlin-based Yiddish singer Sasha Lurje. The bar opens at 6 p.m. with music at 7 p.m.  It's so easy to get there on SEPTA. Hop the Market-Frankford Line to 5th Street/Independence Hall Station or Routes 17, 33, 38, 44, or 57.

Winter

Franklin Square

Franklin Square celebrates the winter season with free nightly light shows inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s legendary kite and key experiment - from 11/16 thru 2/25. Free light shows — set to a soundtrack of seasonal tunes —  illuminate the square every 30 minutes from 5 p.m. until close. Before or after the show, grab a burger or beverage fireside from the on-site Square Burger, play a round of festive Chilly Philly Mini Golf or hop aboard the classic Parx Liberty Carousel. Get there on SEPTA: it's a short walk from 5th Street/Independence Hall Station on the Market-Frankford Line!
