SEPTA Running Extra Service for Broad Street Run

April 26, 2023

SEPTA is helping runners get a head start on one of Philadelphia’s signature sports events – the Blue Cross Broad Street Run!

Free rides on the Broad Street Line for all registered 2023 Blue Cross Broad Street Run participants on Sunday, April 30, 2023! ICYMI - the race starts at 8AM.

Express trains are operating every 10 minutes prior to the race beginning at 4AM from NRG Station with stops at Walnut-Locust; City Hall; Race-Vine; Spring Garden; Girard; Erie; Olney Transportation Center; and Fern Rock Transportation Center.

Local trains will run in between Express trains making stops at all Broad Street Line Stations.

Free rides for registered runners are available on the BSL before and after the race - until noon.

Participants must display their 2023 official race bib with their competitor number to ride for free.

Race participants can take advantage of early morning service on the Glenside Combined Regional Rail Line to Fern Rock Transportation Center and either walk to the start or transfer to the Broad Street Line. Many other Regional Rail Lines will get you into Suburban Station with enough time to catch the Broad Street Run from City Hall to the start of the race in time. The Fox Chase Line arrives at 6:40, the Media/Wawa Line arrives at 6:57, the Manayunk/Norristown Line arrives at 6:35, the Trenton Line arrives at 7:03, the Paoli/Thorndale Line arrives at 6:45, and the Wilmington/Newark Line arrives at 7:09. Click HERE for all Regional Rail schedules.

SEPTA is encouraging customers to check https://realtime.septa.org/systemstatus as dozens of bus routes operating on, across, and around Broad Street in parts of North Philadelphia, Center City, and South Philadelphia will be altered due to road closures and detours that will be in place for the race.

Detours [North of Spring Garden | South of Spring Garden] are expected to start at approximately 6:15AM on Sunday.

SEPTA will resume regular service as soon as possible after the race.

More information about detours and using SEPTA to get to and from the race can be found here.
