Good Nutrition is a SEPTA Ride Away

February 23, 2022

March is National Nutrition Month. Good nutrition starts with a healthy, well-balanced diet. And a well-balanced diet includes fresh fruit and vegetables. Farmers Markets are not only a great place to shop for fruits and veggies - they are also a great way to support local growers and your community.

Both The Food Trust and Farm to City host markets in and around Philadelphia that are open year round and are an easy SEPTA ride away.

The Rittenhouse Farmers Market is open Tuesday and Saturday. Short walk from Suburban, 15th Street and 19th Street Stations, ride the Broad Street Line to Walnut-Locust or take Routes 2, 9, 12, 17, 21 or 42.

Head to the University Square Farmers Market every Wednesday from 9a-5p! Hop the Market-Frankford Line to 34th Street or Trolley Routes 11, 13, 34, or 36 to 36th Street.

The Fairmount Farmers Market is open on Thursday. Bus Routes 48, 43, 33, 32 & 7 all get you close.

Clark Park is home to one of the largest and most well-populated farmers markets in Philadelphia, and boasts over a dozen vendors manning tables piled high with organic fruits, heirloom vegetables, milk, eggs, cheeses, meats and more. It's open year-round on Saturdays from 10a to 2p. Get there on SEPTA. Routes 13, 30 & 34 drop you right there!

You can also head to Chestnut Hill every Saturday for their Farmers Market! Hop the Chestnut Hill East Line to Wyndmoor Station for a quick walk there. The Route 23 also gets you there!

Or check out one of the biggest farmers markets in Montgomery County. The Bryn Mawr Farmers Market is open every 1st, 3rd & 5th Saturday and is located AT Bryn Mawr Station - just steps from the train! Hop the Paoli/Thorndale Line to get there!

On Sunday stop by the Headhouse Farmers Market for fresh produce, baked goods, local meats, cheeses and wines. It's so easy to get here on SEPTA. Hop Route 12, 40, 47 or 57.

Or head to Dickinson Square Farmers Market every 1st and 3rd Sunday. Hop the Route 57 to get you there!

Or there's Media's Farmers Market every 1st and 3rd Sunday from 10a-12p on Edgemont Street between Front & State Streets. Route 101 drops you off right there!

Shop small. Eat healthy. Get there on SEPTA!
