SEPTA Key Advantage offers employers and colleges/universities the ability to purchase deeply discounted All-Access Passes for employees and students. Passes are purchased electronically and loaded right onto individuals’ SEPTA Key cards. Just like the Monthly Anywhere TrailPass - SEPTA Key Advantage passes can be used on all SEPTA modes.

On average of 80.2% of participating employees use the program. Since the inception of SEPTA Key Advantage - participants have rode over 8.1 million times in TOTAL!

Thanks to our summer 2023 enrollment blitz - which included strong efforts from SEPTA, Jawnt, and the City of Philadelphia - we were able to start off the City’s enrollment with incredibly strong numbers and have high ridership from the get-go with 10+ events and 11K+ cards loaded. Way to go!

City of Philadelphia Quick Stats

  • 13.3K cards registered

  • 10K monthly riders

  • 1.7x more overall rides with city

September 2023 saw the start of Key Advantage UPass - a program for college/university students. Swarthmore College was our first partner and College Together joined in November 2023.

UPass First Month Quick Stats - Swarthmore

  • 6,219 total taps

  • 207 taps/day

  • 3.8 taps/student

  • 71% registered

  • 58% tapped

In addition to these incredible statistics - it was found that most of Swarthmore’s ridership was on Saturdays and Sundays - suggesting that students were using it to explore the area and for recreational purposes not only to go to class/work.

Students largely rode Regional Rail - at a rate of 2/3 - while the other 1/3 of rides were on bus or SEPTA Metro. This is thanks to a station on the Paoli/Thorndale Line being conveniently located on campus.

“After a full academic year partnering with SEPTA and Jawnt on the SEPTA UPass Program, the reception from our students has been overwhelmingly positive. Students have expressed great excitement and gratitude for the program - which has provided them with convenient means of travel into Philly and the surrounding areas. The program had a significant impact; students utilized the UPass for traveling to internships, commuting to campus, exploring local areas, and for leisure.

From an administrative standpoint - the process has been relatively seamless. The teams from both SEPTA and Jawnt have been very helpful and great to work with along the way.” - Anthony Condo, Director of Campus Services

During their first year - 89% of Swarthmore students rode using their UPass at least once. Great job - students!

Looking head! SEPTA has big plans for SEPTA Key Advantage in 2024 such as enrolling Delaware County and working with Center City, University City District, and the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Our partners are what make Key Advantage a success. SEPTA is grateful for your patronage and continued commitment to keeping your employees, students, and residents moving productively!

HERE’S TO ANOTHER YEAR OF SEPTA KEY ADVANTAGE!
