Location: Penn's Landing 📍

January 28, 2022

Hey SEPTA Rider, I’m back with a new location! This week, I took a quick trip to one of Philly’s most scenic and peaceful sites, Penn’s Landing. The Philadelphia waterfront site is known for hosting numerous events throughout the year such as festivals, concerts, firework shows, and children’s programs.

Currently, Penn’s Landing is the location of the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest and I wanted to check it out! Before leaving, I used the SEPTA app and found the nearest and quickest route to my destination.

On this trip, I decided to take a SEPTA bus for the first time by myself. The quickest and nearest route was the 17 and the bus shelter was only a few steps away from my building. I could have taken the 33 as well, but the bus that was currently en route at that specific time was the 17.

The bus pulled up to the bus shelter, I hopped on, tapped my card on the validator, and took my seat.

It was a smooth ride and only a few short minutes. I didn’t even have to tug on the pull cord to request a stop because the bus’s last stop was directly at the waterfront just a few steps away from Winterfest!

For 28 seasons, Winterfest has taken place on the Delaware River Waterfront. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful views, get cozy in the heated cabins or firepit stations, enjoy delicious food and beverages, and ice skate on the NHL-sized ice rink 7 days a week. Everyone can purchase tickets and indulge in the festivities today through March 6, 2022.

As I was making my way through Winterfest and was taking in all the winter wonderland views, something special caught my eye. Two words: FRIED OREOS 😍! It’s just something about the gourmet dessert that holds a special place in my heart. I made a beeline to the station and treated myself to the ultimate treat.

After I finished my delicacy, I made my way back up to the bridge where the 17 bus and a few other buses were patiently coincidentally waiting for passengers. I boarded the bus, tapped my card on the validator once again, and waited for the bus operator to start his route.

The cost to ride any SEPTA bus, no matter the starting point, is $2.00 when utilizing your Travel Wallet on your SEPTA Key card and $2.50 when using cash (must be exact change). It is also important to always remember to wear a face covering when riding ANY SEPTA mode.

Before my trip, I was nervous for my first solo SEPTA bus ride but now I am confident as ever to ride a SEPTA bus. Especially if it’s for fried Oreos!
