Location: Berwyn πŸ“

April 8, 2022

Hello SEPTA Rider! It’s your favorite SEPTA employee here, Leslie! You guessed it! I’m back with a new location. This week, we’re headed out to Berwyn, PA. Why Berwyn? It was the luck of the draw. I thought it’d be interesting to randomly pick a destination served by one of our Regional Rail lines.

After I chose the location and did further research for my trip, I learned one of our Perk Partners, La Cabra Brewing, is located directly across the street from the Berwyn Train Station.

La Cabra Brewing is a full-service brewpub. It is a comfortable and relaxed space for friends and neighbors alike to enjoy a meal, drinks, and time together. Their motto is Gran Vecino (Great Neighbor), which embodies their commitment to making the community a more vibrant and fulfilling place to live and eat!

After learning more about our Perks Partner, it seemed like a no-brainer to make this trip and tell our readers all about it.

First, I checked the schedule for the Paoli/Thorndale Line. The ride from Jefferson Station to Berwyn was estimated to be about 40 minutes so I made sure to bring my headphones. I headed over to Jefferson station, checked the Arrival Board to find the right track, tapped on, then headed down to the platform.

The train arrived right on time. Before I stepped foot on the train, I allowed other passengers to get off first because that’s SEPT-Etiquette. Once the passengers exited the train, I hopped on, took my seat, and enjoyed the tunes of 90’s R&B in my ear.

When I got to the Berwyn Station, I tapped off and then walked down to the street. Of course, as anticipated, I saw La Cabra Brewing directly across the street. I walked over to the brewpub, grabbed the door handle, and… it was locked. I found the hours of operations hanging on the window to my left. Of course, the restaurant didn’t open until 4 pm on Tuesdays and it was 3 pm 🀦🏾‍♀️. That was poor planning on my part.

After realizing my hiccup, I didn’t want to waste any company time, so I snapped a few pics of the area and then walked over to the train station to go back to the office. The next train going to Philadelphia arrived at the station within 10 minutes. I tapped on and was on my way.

If you use Travel Wallet on your SEPTA Key card, the cost of a one-way trip from Center City to Berwyn on Regional Rail is $5.75 on weekdays and $5.25 on weekends. It is also imperative to always remember to wear a face-covering when riding ANY SEPTA mode.

Lastly, don’t be like me and always remember to plan your trip (BEFORE heading out) on ISEPTAPHILLY.com and check the hours of operation of your destination if applicable. Say it with me guys: A great planner makes for an even better SEPTA rider!
