Service Advisory | Routes 101 & 102

November 30, 2020

For the next two (2) weekends December 5–6 and December 12-13, 2020, buses will replace ALL Route 101 (Media) and 102 (Sharon Hill) trolleys between 69th Street Transportation Center and end of track at Media and Sharon Hill.

On these consecutive Saturday mornings, track will be taken out of service and buses will replace ALL trolley service on these lines.

This is necessary so that we can advance the next phase of construction for our Positive Train Control (PTC) project which includes track circuit and signal cutover work at the Bowling Green Interlocking.

This extensive infrastructure work cannot be completed while trolleys are operating or during the short night-owl windows, which necessitates the use of weekend busing.

You should expect/plan for up to 15 minutes of additional travel time. Buses will board at or near Trolley Stations/Stops. Look for signs.

Inclement weather could affect construction.

Additionally, our in-house forces will utilize the trolley service shutdowns to perform key maintenance tasks within the outage area. This work includes repairing a washout area near Springfield Mall Station, Rip Rap Stone placement at Drexel Interlocking, pole installation on the Route 102, OCS hardware replacement on the Route 101, and station maintenance on all lines.
