Effective immediately, SEPTA’s Bike Policy has been updated to allow bicycles on all Broad Street Line and Norristown High Speed Line cars during all times of the day.

This announcement comes after advocacy from the Bicycle Coalition, Transit Forward Philadelphia and Clean Air Council.

The request also included Regional Rail but due to staff shortages - we are still unable to accommodate bikes during peak hours of regional rail trains.

“It is the position of the Authority that for safety and schedule reasons during peak hours, on Regional Rail the one direction weekday peak hours bike restriction must remain in place,” said Jody Holton, SEPTA Chief Planning & Strategy Officer.

This policy change is a crucial step toward better integration between SEPTA and micromobility users.

SEPTA is very interested in learning how you travel using bicycles or other micromobility devices - such as scooters, electric-assist bicycles, e-scooters, skateboards, and hoverboards.

We want to understand how riders incorporate these devices into their transit trips and how we can improve your experience.

Even if you do not use your bicycle or other device while traveling on SEPTA - we want to hear from you! Please click here to take our survey.
