We Salute Our Veterans

As the nation officially celebrates Veterans Day on November 11, SEPTA recognizes the contributions of our veterans and current servicemen and women every day.

Thank you for your service and all that you do.

Many veterans are currently employed in positions throughout the Authority and SEPTA has made a commitment to hiring more former members of the Armed Forces.

To reach its veterans hiring goal, SEPTA participates in career fairs across the Greater Philadelphia region and works with numerous military-based organizations.

Among SEPTA's employee ranks are armed forces veterans who served in military conflicts dating back from Korea to the present day in Afghanistan including:

Gary Evans - United States Airforce 24 years; SEPTA 5 years

Steven Buoy - United States Marine Corps 20 years; SEPTA 12 years

Sylvia Fritz - United States Airforce 6 years; SEPTA 10 years

Susan Fluck- United States Marine Corps 8 years; SEPTA 7 years

Bud Scott - United States Coast Guard 7 years; SEPTA 6 years

John Townsend - United States Navy 28 years; SEPTA 6 years

LaVern Evans - United States Army 6 years; SEPTA 27 years

Ron Benson Jr., CHST - United States Navy 10 years; SEPTA 27 years

We are honored to have employees representing all branches of service - Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy.  We owe a debt of gratitude to all who gave of themselves to defend our nation’s independence and our freedom as Americans citizens. 

Leadership takes many forms and responding to the call to serve your country is one of them.  Thank you for being courageous. Thank you for answering the call of duty.  Thank you for the sacrifices that you and your families made to preserve our liberty and freedom.
