Runners, on your mark! The 43rd Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run returns to Philadelphia Sunday, April 30, 2023!!

Come chat with us about your road to the race at our booth at the Broad Street Run Health & Wellness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. 

Service on Race Day

The 43rd Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run returns to Philadelphia Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 8AM. SEPTA will once again offer every registered competitor a free ride on the Broad Street Line (see details below) to the starting line at Broad Street and West Fisher Avenue, located between Olney Transportation Center and Logan Stations. 

Service on the Broad Street Line

  • Participants in the Blue Cross Broad Street Run may ride the Broad Street Line to the starting line [and back to the start or home] for free 

  • Participants must display their official competitor's race bib number to a SEPTA cashier to gain entry

  • Express Broad Street Line Trains will operate every 10 minutes prior to the race, departing NRG Station, with stops at Olney Transportation Center and Fern Rock Transportation Center. Local trains will run in between Express trains making stops at all Broad Street Line Stations.

Early Morning Regional Rail Service

SEPTA Regional Rail Lines offer service to Center City for race participants.

  • Race participants can take advantage of early morning service on the Glenside Combined Line to Fern Rock and either walk to the start or transfer to the Broad Street Line

  • Early morning train service from Glenside and Jenkintown will connect runners to the Broad Street Line at Fern Rock Transportation Center. Take the Broad Street line one (1) stop to Olney Transportation Center, where signs will direct you to the starting line area. Other Lines can get you there too, but service is not as frequent and you could be cutting it close. Click here to view those schedules.

  • At the end of the Race, riders should take the Broad Street Line to City Hall Station where they can connect to Suburban Station and Regional Rail service.

  • The 2023 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run marks a return to tradition with kids’ events and spectators on Sunday, April 30, 2023. This year’s race welcomes runners and cheer squads back to Broad Street to celebrate Philadelphia’s resiliency

Coming from Out of Town?

SEPTA's Airport Line is the best way to Center City from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)!  You can purchase a Quick Trip using cash, credit or debit from the SEPTA Key Fare Kiosks located at each Airport Line Terminal Stop. A Quick Trip is valid for one-way travel between PHL and Center City Philadelphia via SEPTA's Airport Line. A Quick Trip costs $6.75. Short on time? You can pay $8 cash onboard the train.

For your return trip to the airport, you can purchase your return ticket from any SEPTA Sales Office. The cost is $6.75. Sales Offices accept cash, debit and credit. Or if you're tight on time, you can pay $8 cash onboard the train.
