Delaware River Waterfront

From parks and museums to piers and restaurants, there are so many of attractions and events all year long at the Delaware River Waterfront.

Located just a short walk from Old City, Society Hill, and Philadelphia’s Historic District, the waterfront has tons to offer, including one of the coolest pop-up parks in the city (Spruce Street Harbor Park), some of the best outdoor venues for concerts, festivals, and more as well as amazing views of Benjamin Franklin Bridge and the Delaware River.

How to get there

SEPTA Bus Routes 21, 33, and 42 stop at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing and Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest at the Chestnut Street turnaround. Routes 17 and 48 stop at Front and Market Streets. Route 12 stops directly at Spruce Street Harbor Park Presented by Univest/Valley Green Bank at Columbus Blvd and Dock Street. Route 25 runs along Columbus Blvd.

You can also take the SEPTA Market-Frankford Line (the Blue Line) to the 2nd Street stop. From there, head east over the Market Street Bridge. The Blue Cross RiverRink and Great Plaza at Penn's Landing will be straight ahead.

Things To Do

No matter the season, there’s always something to do on the Delaware River Waterfront.

During the Winter months, it's home to the Blue Cross RiverRink (check out this Perk!), a heated lodge that has all sorts of food and drink options, an arcade, and lots more!  The park is open seven days a week, including holidays!

You can also visit the Independence Seaport Museum - a SEPTA Perk!

The Delaware River Waterfront is also just a short walk away from historic Old City, which has plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, and art galleries.

PECO Multicultural Series: Philadelphia Caribbean Festival

Penn's Landing

After a cancellation in 2020 and a virtual event in 2021, the 36th annual Philadelphia Caribbean Festival returns in-person on Sunday — with musical performances and more — to Penn’s Landing for the first time in three years as part of the PECO Multicultural Series. Bring your flags, and show your pride! SEPTA is the best way there! Take the Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street or hop Bus Routes 12, 21, 25, 33 or 42!

Pirate Rum Challenge

Delaware River Waterfront

Arrr you ready for a Swashbucklin’ good time? This pop-up rum garden experience every Thursday thru Saturday at the Independence Seaport Museum is full of cheeky and pirate-y activities for adults, including a plank walk against the museum’s pirate-in-residence Calico Jack and a beanbag-toss competition. After completing the challenge, score some booty: a complimentary rum cocktail, of course. Save $2 on admission when you flash your SEPTA Key card! Get there on SEPTA! SEPTA Bus Routes 21, 33 & 42,17, 12, 25 and 48 all get you close! You can also take the SEPTA Market-Frankford Line (the Blue line) to the 2nd Street Stop. From there, head East over the Market Street Bridge.

PECO Multicultural Series at Penn's Landing: Festival of India

Penn's Landing

The Council of Indian Organizations in Greater Philadelphia hosts a party this Saturday on the Delaware River waterfront in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence. The day features plenty of food, dancing, shopping and cultural performances. SEPTA is the best way there! Take the Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street or hop Bus Routes 12, 21, 25, 33 or 42.

Move over, Friday: Thursday might be Philly’s favorite happy hour and date night this summer thanks to Old City Eats. More than 20 participating bars, restaurants and eateries in Old City offer small plate and drink specials from 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through August 25, 2022. In addition to returning participants like Amada, Khyber Pass Pub and Lucha Cartel, 13 new spots join the party for 2022, including Rebel Taco, Campo’s Philly Cheesesteaks and Scoop DeVille. It's SO easy to get to Old City on SEPTA! Believe half of what you see. The Museum of Illusions opens a Philadelphia outpost in Old City on Saturday, 3/12, joining existing locations in Toronto, Paris, Chicago and New York. With over 80 exhibits meant to trick the eye, the attraction delights visitors with holograms, stereograms and optical illusions, all the while teaching about vision, perception and the human brain. Get here on SEPTA. Short walk from Jefferson Station or ride SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line to 5th Street/Independence Hall Station. Bus Routes 5, 9, 17, 21, 33, 38, 42, 44, 48, 57, and 121 also stop near the museum.
