Fairmount/Art Museum Area

Resting just beyond Benjamin Franklin Parkway, home to Philly’s truly world-class museums, Fairmount is synonymous with fine art — but it’s far from the only draw of Center City’s effusive northern neighbor. Referred to as the “Art Museum Area” due to its walking-distance access to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute, Rodin and Barnes Foundation, Fairmount possesses a distinct personality that thrives independent of those hallowed halls. The name "Fairmount" derives from the prominent hill on which the Philadelphia Museum of Art now sits and where William Penn intended to build his manor house.

How to get there

The Greater Art Museum Area is serviced by a number of Bus Routes including Route 49, Trolley Lines, and the Broad Street Line.
