Franklin Field

In operation since before the turn of the 20th century, Franklin Field is the University of Pennsylvania’s historic football stadium. It is also home of the Penn Relays every April, the oldest organized relay competition in the United States. The Relays bring together the best track and field athletes from high schools and colleges worldwide.

Franklin Field is the oldest two-tiered stadium in the country with a seating capacity of 52,593. The historic field is the former home of Super Bowl LII champs the Philadelphia Eagles and was also host to some of the very first Army-Navy games between 1899 and 1935.

How to get there

Take SEPTA Regional Rail to William H. Gray III 30th Street Station or Penn Medicine Station.

Take the Market-Frankford Line to 30th or 34th Street Station.

Take the Broad Street Line to City Hall. Make a free interchange at City Hall to the Market-Frankford Line Westbound towards 69th Street. Follow Market-Frankford Line directions.

Take any Trolley line to the 33rd Street Station.

Hop Routes 21, 30, 42 or 49.

University of Pennsylvania football home games are played at Franklin Field. 

Franklin Field hosts the Penn Relays every April, as well as various other Track & Field meets throughout the year.

At the nation’s oldest and largest collegiate track meet, high school, college and professional runners compete at the University of Pennsylvania’s historic Franklin Field. The three-day event - beginning 4/25 - features morning, afternoon and evening race sessions. Located just outside the stadium gates, Carnival Village bursts to life with vibrant tents, DJs, parties, fun activities, merch and apparel stalls, food and drink vendors, and the sound of languages from around the world. Best way to Franklin Field is SEPTA. Hop Regional Rail to William H. Gray III 30th Street or Penn Medicine Stations, the Market-Frankford Line to 34th Street, the Trolley to 33rd Street or Bus Routes 21, 30, 42, or 49.
