Kids Ride Free to Eastern State Penitentiary

July 13, 2021

In case you missed it - heading out with the kids on SEPTA is easier [and less expensive!] thanks to FREE RIDES for kids 11 and under! That – along with free transfers for you - means it's time to explore!

This summer – take a trip to Eastern State Penitentiary in Fairmount. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious lawbreakers, including "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.

These tours are a great family activity. Tickets for Kids Under 7 are $0 [FREE]; Kids7-12 are $15; and Adults are $19. But wait - Adults save $2 when they flash their SEPTA Key card.

There are so many ways to get here on SEPTA! Hop Bus Routes 7, 32, 33, 43, 48, and 49! Plan your trip here.

And remember– riding the bus is 10X safer than driving. Regional Rail is 18X safer!

Per CDC guidelines - masks are still required on all public transportation.
