Looking to trade the city’s hustle and bustle for somewhere more quiet and quaint? The SEPTA map is dotted with enough small towns to satisfy your every unique boutique, cute café, or rustic restaurant craving. Take advantage of the quiet “reverse commute” during the work day and you’ll have plenty of room to stash your out-of-town finds on your train or bus ride back.

Chestnut Hill on Ice

Chestnut Hill

Chill out this Friday and Saturday at Chestnut Hill’s annual outdoor event celebrating winter wonder. The two-day event features intricate ice sculptures and live ice carving demos, an outdoor bar made entirely of ice, local libations from Chestnut Hill Brewing Company and Stateside Vodka, and — for the first time ever — street curling on Saturday. Warm up at one of several warming stations, or pop into one of 10 businesses along Germantown Avenue serving up special chili recipes for the occasion. The event culminates in a giant bonfire encased in a pillar of ice. The event is free to attend with pay-as-you-go food and drink. It's so easy to SEPTA there. Ride Routes 23, 94 or L, or take the Chestnut Hill East or Chestnut Hill West Regional Rail Lines to the last stop.
